Change in Senate Rule on Filibuster

On November 21, 2013, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid invoked the so-called "Nuclear Option" that would fundamentally alter on how Senate is run. Under the rule change, most of the executive nominations--excluding Supreme Court nominations--will be approved by simple majority instead of cutting off any potential filibuster by 60-vote majority and then voting on the nomination.
